Logie Life July 2023
Lys Hansen Forth Valley Arts Week
A group of us from the village were warmly welcomed to Lys' studio, the light and airy Smiddy in Braco. We were treated to a moving insight into her paintings: what inspired her; where she was in her life. Lys was most generous with her time, providing a background to her work. It was an insightful and revelatory experience.

A Useful App from Mike Allen
A few weeks ago, I went for a walk along the back path that runs above Peter and Jenny Jennings' house, when I smelled smoke.
I discovered some irresponsible idiots had a fire and left rubbish behind, leaving the ground to smoulder in two places over a 20m square area.
This was spotted in time before the hillside went up in flames.
I phoned the fire brigade and gave the location of the fire using the app 'what3words' : limbs/deranged/cultivation.
The fire brigade parked in the car park and took canvas buckets and knapsack sprays to extinguish the smouldering ground. Many thanks to the fire brigade for their prompt action.
The app 'what3words' is really useful, saving me time in this case trying to describe my position on the hillside; everyone should get it, very useful in emergencies and good for meeting people in unfamiliar locations….and it is free!

100 Club
Congratulations to Sue Allen on winning the recent 100 Club draw.
Community Council
There is no Logie Community Council.
Residents will be aware that there was a second election process by Stirling Council to try and get sufficient nominations to form a new community council. This process closed on 7 June. The result is that, once again, there were insufficient nominations and so, regrettably, no community council could be formed for the Logie area.
Peter Jennings
Gordon Adam will be showing an episode of Dr Finlay's Casebook on Tuesday 4th July in the Reading Room at 7.30pm.
The Blairlogie episode is around fifty minutes duration, BYOB if that helps you to stay awake.
Apparently, some of the residents were extras, possibly Robin will be able to point them out.
Any donations towards the upkeep will be gratefully received.
If you cannot make it, fear not, as Gordon will give the DVD to Craig, resident archivist, so anyone may borrow it.
